Privacy policy

This policy explains how Black Mountain AI handles personal information.

Last updated: 12 August 2026

Black Mountain AI (“we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect through this website and in the course of our business, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Information we collect

Through this website, we collect only what you choose to give us:

  • Enquiry details. When you submit our contact form we collect your name, email address, organisation, the topic you select, and the message you write.
  • Technical information. Our hosting provider records standard request data such as IP address, user agent and requested page, for security and operational purposes.
  • Usage information. Where analytics and advertising technologies are active, we collect information about how this site is found and used, including the pages you view, the approximate location derived from your IP address, and the site or advertisement that referred you.

We do not sell personal information.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use analytics to understand which pages are read and which search terms and campaigns bring people here, and we advertise on third party platforms including search engines and professional networks. Doing that involves cookies and similar technologies set by us and by those platforms.

These technologies fall into two groups:

  • Necessary. These keep the site working and secure, and the site cannot run without them.
  • Analytics and advertising. These measure how the site performs, tell us whether an advertisement led to an enquiry, and allow advertising platforms to show you our advertisements on other sites. This can include showing you an advertisement after you have visited a page here.

The second group is optional. Where we ask for your consent you can decline, and you can change your mind later. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the advertising platforms we use each publish their own controls for limiting personalised advertising. Declining will not stop you using this site.

Advertising platforms receive information under their own privacy terms, and they may combine it with information they already hold about you. We do not upload client lists or enquiry details to them.

How we use it

We use the information you provide to:

  • respond to your enquiry and continue the conversation;
  • provide the services you engage us for;
  • meet our legal, contractual and record-keeping obligations; and
  • maintain the security and reliability of this website.

We will not add you to a mailing list on the basis of a contact form submission.

Sensitive and classified information

Please do not submit classified, security-protected or sensitive personal information through this website. Our contact form is a public-internet channel and is not suitable for that material. Send us a brief unclassified note and we will move the conversation to an appropriate channel.

Disclosure

We disclose personal information only where necessary: to service providers who support our operations under contract, where required or authorised by law, or with your consent. Our website hosting, transactional email, analytics and advertising providers may process data on our behalf, and some of them process it outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle information consistently with this policy.

Storage and security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Enquiry correspondence is retained only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as required by law.

Client data in delivery engagements

Where we handle data belonging to a client as part of a delivery engagement, that handling is governed by the contract for that engagement rather than by this policy. Our standard practice is to work inside the client’s own environment so that client data remains under the client’s control.

Access, correction and complaints

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or make a complaint about how we have handled it. Contact us at contact@blackmountainai.com.au. We will acknowledge your request promptly and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this address, with the date it was last updated shown above.
