Who we help

We apply public sector assurance to commercial AI.

You need AI moving quickly and you need to defend it to a board, a regulator or a customer.

What we bring

You get our experience writing AI governance for the Commonwealth.

Government has demanded explainability, auditability and human oversight for years, and that is the standard regulators, boards and insurers are now applying to business. We have written those frameworks for Commonwealth agencies and we apply them in proportion to your risk, so you can move quickly without building something you later have to unwind.

The commercial question about AI has changed. It is no longer whether the technology can do something useful, because it plainly can, and the question now is whether you can explain it and rely on it when a customer, a regulator or your own board asks how it works.

That is a governance problem, and the Australian public sector has been working on it longer and harder than most of business has. We work on both sides of that line, and because commercial work is judged on what ships, we bring a twelve-week delivery cadence and AI-accelerated engineering with it.

At Direct Couriers we used those practices to build cold chain monitoring, reporting and alerting in weeks rather than quarters.

The pressures

These are the pressures we hear about most often.

Your staff are moving faster than your governance

People are already using AI tools, so the real question is whether that use is sanctioned and visible or informal and invisible.

You have to prove it to people who did not build it

Boards, insurers, auditors and enterprise customers want evidence, which means measurement and a decision trail you can produce later.

Sensitive data can reach tools nobody assessed

The quickest way to create a serious incident is for personal or commercially sensitive information to land in a tool that was never reviewed for it.

The spend has to return something you can point to

Commercial AI budgets do not survive a year of interesting experiments, so value has to be attributable and it has to arrive reasonably soon.

How we help

Here is how we work with private clients.

  • We write responsible AI frameworks in proportion to your risk

You get the instruments we write for government scaled to a commercial setting, covering acceptable use, impact assessment, human oversight and a register that reflects what you actually run.

  • We build quickly using AI-accelerated engineering

We use AI development tooling throughout our own delivery with an engineer reviewing every change, which takes a system from idea to working software in weeks.

  • We put controls where the mistake would happen

Our own product Loose Lips Sink Ships does in-browser data loss prevention for AI prompts, so your acceptable use policy is backed by something that enforces it.

  • We build alongside your engineers and hand over properly

Your team works on the build with ours and keeps the repository, the infrastructure definition and the documentation, so there is no lock-in and no black box.
